Description

Using wax and paint to create inspired decorative items for the home, with over 35 step-by-step projects is shown in this title in 300 easy-to-follow photographs. It includes decorate luxurious home furnishings and fine silk clothing with stylized motifs, bold designs or subtle patterns using two of the most beautiful craft skills: batik and silk painting. Using wax and paint, decorate a lightweight silk folding screen, add drama to a plain cotton deckchair with a tiger motif, or apply a random pattern or bright colours to a leather book cover. Learning to paint on silk is easy - follow step-by-step instructions and photographs and make a poppy painting for a plain wall, a salt-patterned tie or a pretty flowery camisole. This inspirational book contains 35 stunning projects to make, ranging from clothing such as ties, camisoles, scarves and a sarong, to home furnishings such as cushion covers, wall hangings, screens and even a deckchair. There are projects to suit all levels of ability from an abstract picture frame for a complete beginner to try, to a leather book cover for a good intermediate, and a complex batik cushion cover for those with more advanced skills.
Each project is original and explores the varied approaches and styles of working with these two decorative crafts. With step-by-step photographic sequences to show how each project should look at every stage of creation, this is an essential technical reference and inspirational sourcebook of ideas.
